I’m an avid coffee drinker. Everyday, multiple cups a day. I’m even writing this blog from a coffee shop. I can’t even remember the last time I went a full day without coffee.

While this is somewhat alarming, I know I’m not alone. Just the opposite—I’m in really good company.

Are you like me in this way? Perhaps you’re an avid tea drinker. Can’t remember your last day without a cup of tea.

My wife is becoming the avid tea drinker.

Whether you’re the coffee drinker, the tea drinker, or some other hot beverage connoisseur, I want to share with you about my favorite coffee mugs I’ve ever had—and I have quite a few.

The Dowan 15 oz Coffee Mugs. Here’s why you need to buy them right now.

Ceramic With A Lid

Prior to getting these mugs, I often would daydream with my wife about the “perfect coffee mug.”

The perfect mug in my mind had three features:

  1. Made from ceramic
  2. Had a lid
  3. Had a handle

For whatever reason, I found it difficult to find a mug with all three of these features. So difficult that I considered designing it myself.

Here’s why these features were so important to me.

1. I love drinking out of ceramic

When I’m at home, I don’t want to be drinking from a Hydroflask or metal tumblr. While it’s nice that they keep your coffee hot for long periods of time, I find that the metal mugs can give the coffee a metallic taste.

I don’t like when my coffee has a metallic finish. And while I don’t want my coffee to take for ever to cool down, I also don’t want it to cool down too fast. (I’m asking for a lot here, I know.)

This brings my to my second reason for wanting these three features.

2. I want my coffee at the perfect drinking temperature

By introducing a lid to my ceramic mug, it actually helps keep my coffee at the perfect drinking temperature.

The metal keeps it too hot too long, but once you remove the lid, it tends to cool too fast.

With the ceramic mug that has a lid, it happens to cool down naturally at the perfect rate: not too soon, not too slow.

Having a lid for my ceramic mug, then, turned out to be the perfect solution. There are a lot of these kinds of mugs—ceramic with a lid—but they all tend to be handle-less! It makes sense because they’re made for people on the go and driving.

No space for a handle in your car’s cup holder. (Unless you have this cup holder insert. Then you can bring a mug with a handle on the go. It’s awesome.)

This brings me to my last important reason.

3. Handles are better than no handles

I use this mug mostly for my coffee drinking from home. I still take it with me, but it’s generally with me at my desk.

Like most people, I want my the mug containing my hot beverage to have a handle. Even though some mugs are insulated to allow holding a hot, handle-less mug without burning yourself, they usually are the same mugs/tumblrs that keep your drink hot too long!

Thus, a ceramic mug, with a lid, with a handle. Pure genius.

There’s one last reason that these coffee or tea mugs are amazing that didn’t matter to me much before I had them.

Built-in Coaster

As you’ll see at the bottom of these mugs, they are wrapped in a cork material which acts as a coaster. No need to worry about the heat coming from the bottom of your cup ruining your table.

At least I don’t worry about this anymore.

Do be careful, however, to not machine wash these cups. Doing so can actually loosen the adhesive keeping the cork bottom on the mug.

They’re easy to hand wash, though, so you should be fine.

This mug is truly my new favorite. And, for those who care, they even come in different colors.
